When a Nightmare becomes Reality!
Back in the 1990's when I lived in Schenectady, New York with my parents and brother, I was playing outside and underneath our tree I saw this gorgeous black and white cat. She was sooooo friendly! We ended up finding out that she had been abandoned by her owners! These cases of abandoning what I would consider an extension of your family, just never ceases to amaze me! (I have a VERY soft spot for animals.)
My parents, surprisingly, took her in. My mom was all for having the cat, but my dad back then wasn't as excited to have a new pet, but he allowed it. My mom named her Ariel. We had many great years together! Ariel LOVED to hug! If you picked her up she would wrap both her paws around you. It was so adorable! During her life she had four beautiful kittens!
Then, there was that one fateful night. I was asleep on the couch in the living room and had a nightmare. (I slept in the living room because I wanted to be close to my parents bedroom due to the haunting I was experiencing.) In the dream I was walking down Alexander Street which was the next street over from ours. I saw Ariel laying on the side of the road. Her face looked terrible. In the dream she was already dead.
Once I had recognized her in the dream, I woke up with my heart pounding. When I woke up, I heard a car brakes screeching coming from the direction of Alexander Street. I was hoping that it was not what I thought it was, but it was the middle of the night and I am pretty sure my mother would not have been thrilled with me going outside at that time of night, especially being as young as I was. I then went back to sleep.
The next morning, I got up and noticed my parents were not around. I saw the front door wide open and saw both my mom and dad's vehicles parked in the driveway. This made no sense, because my dad should've left for work already. I then looked outside and saw my mom and dad walking towards the house from the direction of Alexander Street. My mother was sobbing. I had this terrible feeling in my gut that I knew why she was crying, but hoped it was not the case.
When my parents walked in, I asked my dad what was wrong and he said the dreaded words.
"Ariel is dead".
My dad had noticed Ariel on the side of the road when he had left for work and returned to the house as soon as he discovered her body. I was a very sensitive kid and had trouble handling the loss of Ariel. I felt just as bad for my mother. It was truly a dark day, but what baffles me to this day is the fact that I had a dream of the exact place where the body was of the exact cat who was killed, then woke up to a driver of a car hitting their brakes on the street where my cat was killed.
This would not be the first time that this type of dream would happen either.
Have any of you ever had a dream like this before?
