Guide to Lucid Dreaming

Anyone can lucid dream with enough practice. For a lot of people, having a lucid dream is one of the most profound experiences of their life. Follow this guide to have your first lucid dream.

Step one, keep a dream journal.


After you wake up in the mornings lie in bed and don’t move, try and recall your dream in as much detail as possible.
Even if you don’t remember anything, write down any fragments or feelings you might have associated with it.
Your brain will begin to mark dreams as important to remember as you do this every day.
Eventually, you will develop the habit and ability to recall 3-4 dreams per night.

Pick a lucid dreaming method.


Once you can recall 2-3 dreams per night, it is time to work on having your first lucid dream.
WILD (wake induced lucid dreaming)
and MILD (mnemonically induced lucid dreaming) are both commonly used practices but don't always work the first few times attempting them.

WILD


Set an alarm to wake you up after you had 4-6 hrs of sleep.
Do something briefly to get you mind active and then lay back down and relax.
Observe the imagery and thoughts as they go through your mind and just let them play out.
Eventually, the images increase into scenes at which point you can enter!
This method provides some of the most amazing lucid dreams.

MILD


Before going to bed set the intention to have a lucid dream, say, “I will have a lucid dream” for a minute.
Go to sleep with this intention in mind and you dramatically increase your chances of a lucid dream.
This method can take several nights of doing this before having a lucid dream, but it is fairly effortless.

My technique


Involves expanding your conscious awareness for an increased awareness in day-to-day life.
This has a myriad of other benefits.
Practice being in the moment in your waking life.
Look around at your surroundings and analyze everything as if it is the first time you have ever seen it, look at every detail.
Then, ask, “Could this be a dream?”, actually consider it as if it could be.
Do a dream test, my favorite is plugging my nose and trying to breathe through.
However, you have to be convinced that this could be a dream for this dream test to work.
If you are dreaming you will find that you can still breathe!

Keep doing this daily and suddenly it will occur in a dream where you seriously question the dream state with slightly more awareness and BOOM your conscious mind wakes up in full control and it actually feels like you just woke up in your dream.
