Drawing Challenge#3: The Steem-Powered Banana Boat!steemCreated with Sketch.

Question: Who can swim faster?
A 'Mega Steem Whale', or
A 'Baby Steem Whale on a Steem-powered Banana Boat' or
the 'Apprentice fish'.

Doesn't make sense? Read on...hopefully it will make more sense.

This is my second entry into the 'Drawing Challenge' by @helene

This Week's Theme for the 'Drawing Challenge' by @helene is:
'Fruit'

@helene's main guideline is:

You can draw whatever you like, as long as you draw it by yourself, it is accepted.

I have drawn a 'Strawberry' for my first entry, and for my second entry I have decided to draw a 'Banana'.
This time, I tried something different with the drawing. Since the banana looks like the shape of a boat, I tried to make the banana into a boat. And when I think about the boat I think of the ocean... and so the train of thought led to drawing whales and this is what it looks like.

See below my entry.
Hope that you like it.

The Steem-powered Banana Boat!

I initially drew it in pencil and colored the drawing using color pencil. Then I edited the drawing slightly on computer to see the effect:

This is like a mouse pad or something...

Here are the drawing material that I used:

I used pencils (HB, 6B) and color pencils

This is a close up of the banana:

One of @helene's rules are:

4、The works must be marked with your own name

If you look closely at the bottom left of the drawing, you will see my username

I have tried to shape the letters of my name @apprentice001 into the shape of a fish since I have decided to go with the idea of a ocean. Hopefully now the question at the beginning of the post makes more sense.

Another of @helene's rules are:

3、Take photo of step by step process (this is one of the most important criterion)

Therefore, I made sure to take a lot of drawing process photos of the step to step process of the drawing as this is a very important criterion. I will first show animated gifs of the drawing process, and then go into step-by-step process of how I created the drawing and my thought process.

Here is an animated gif of the drawing process

The Banana Boat drawing GIF

Here are the step-by-step process of how I created the drawing and my thought process

To start off, I began a rough sketch of the banana in pencil.

And then I incorporated the whales into the drawing

Some fine tuning, darkening the lines and replacing rough outlines with clearer lines

Once that is done, I begin to use color pencils to color in

A method I use to color in is to first outline a particular area of the drawing in the color that will take up most part of the drawing. For example, I have outlined the banana in yellow

Once the outline in color is done, I begin to use stronger colors to color in the drawing

Now I move onto coloring in the whales

Same approach as the banana, using strong colors

Once the baby whale is done, I move onto coloring in the mega whale

And now, to create the 'Apprentice' fish:

And this is it:

Here are some additional variations

Thanks @olgy-art. lol, thanks for answering the question. I would not disagree with that. Have a great day, my friend.

Thanks @fundurian! Glad you like it. Have a wonderful day!

Wow! Looks amazing! I love the color choice. How long have you been drawing?

Thanks @no-far for your kind words. Glad you like the color choice. I have been drawing since I was a kid, but I stopped for quite a while and started again recently when I joined Steemit. It took me several hours over a few days to complete this drawing. Thanks and have an awesome day!
