Who Still Creates With Microsoft Paint?

I still love to draw with MS Paint! I use it now and again, especially during times when I have my laptop open and not really sure what to do on it. It may be a bit more difficult to complete a picture and the finished work may be more basic-looking compared to using newer digital art tools - but there's something so satisfying about making a drawing using Paint. Or perhaps it's just the nostalgia of using the first drawing tool I experimented art with? Hmmmm.

As a kid, I would usually use this software to doodle with, or make quick edits with pictures and things. As an adult, I started using it more and more during really slow days at the office. Since it was one of the very few programs which wasn't blocked by IT, I would draw whatever idea would come to mind. Eventually I started making the drawings more and more elaborate and saw how nice you could make your creation with a little more effort, practice and creativity. Below is a work-in-progress screenshot I took of my most recent Paint project. Doesn't look like much at the beginning, but keep reading and you'll see the finished work at the bottom!

The trick is taking a basic shape that you normally do with paint, and taking the time to add more and more shapes to it, creating a 3D feel.

From a simple oval:

Add a curve below to give it shape:

Add color and shadows to give a 3D appearance:

And get creative with a background to add mood and personality to the creation:

A quick search online will reveal stunning pieces done with only Paint. They are crazy good, and proves you can make a masterpiece with this tool.

Kinda sad that Microsoft won't be supporting this software soon. It's really more fun and useful than people realize. I've definitely made good use of it throughout the years.
