FLORAL SKULL
Hello everyone, especially those who kindly follow me.
I'm back I hope I can stay for a long time.
I'm very happy to show you some steps in the drawing process of
a commissioned remake from some old "medical" drawings.
This work is made from scratch in Photoshop. I began making a more or minus accurate sketch of the skull. I like to emulate the trace and texture of a real pencil.
Well, the skull sketch is ready in this stage. I will go ahead with the flowers now.
On a new transparent layer, I drew all the flowers, leaves and stems of the plants.
Everything is drawn with a brownish color and an average opacity of 50%.
At this stage, color is added to flowers and plants. It's a basic coloring without much detail and I applied a little blur effect and brightness using the mixer brush tool.
Here I have refined the color, especially in the stems and leaves to give it more luminosity.
I also bring the lines to the front by making a copy of the previous ones and changing the color according to each flower or plant.
You do this using the transparent pixel lock in the layer properties.
You may be wondering if this is a wrong image. No, it isn't.
I did this in Illustrator to give texture on some parts of my drawing.
I have worked on the skull adding more details and giving it depth and light to obtain volume and a more realistic look, always using the pencil style. I also drew the roots of the plant.
In the upper left, you see the layer I made to apply to the flower arrangement.
Each part of the flower arrangement is done in a different layer so I will apply the texture layer to each one separately adjusting the size, color and transparency according to each drawing.
Now the base is ready and I have applied the texture. I'm going to give more volume to the skull and more light and vivacity to the flowers and the plant. I applied a different texture to the skull drawing to get a bone look.
The drawing is finished.
I fixed the white contour of the flower arrangement, the skull was also enhanced and I drew the little ribs on the leaves.
For the background I used an old paper image then added some watercolor brushes and a very very subtle gradient overlay.
This is just to see how it looks on a black background.
Hope you liked this.
