Crayola Girl

My talented preteen daughter drew this pencil self portrait. Isn't it great? It is a pose of her wearing a new costume that I just bought for her. The costume instantly turns her into a living crayon. She chose this costume over an almost equally compelling costume that turned her into a medieval archer woman. But the bow and arrow were sold separately.

I find it funny that, in her Crayola Girl drawing, she changed the costume to read "Blue" instead of what was actually on the costume: "Cerulean," which is a word derived from the Latin word for heaven or sky. It does make sense. When was the last time you heard anyone use "cerulean" in a sentence?

Much fun was had taking the kids shopping for costumes this year. We went to a party store that seemed to offer every costume imaginable for sale. In fact, I think we spent at least two hours in there, maybe longer.

This is so different than the old days. My Mom used to sew our costumes from scratch the old-fashioned way: with needle and thread. How times have changed!
