Bartholomew Henry "Barry" Allen is a fictional character who appears in American comics published by DC Comics. He is the second character to use the identity of Flash. The character appeared for the first time in Showcase nº4 (October 1956), created by the writer Robert Kanigher and the cartoonist Carmine Infantino. His name combines those of television presenters Barry Gray and Steve Allen.
