Faded Black - pen portrait drawing artwork

An atmospheric pen piece. I shaded only with lines in one direction and tried to avoid sharp visible lines. Outlines can make it look unrealistic. This technique creates an interesting looking piece.

It can be difficult to get the darkest tones but you just have to use more lines and to get the lightest tones leave it blank. The lines surrounding him also create an interesting composition.
