Fan art of Luffy - learning to add shading / ルフィ描きました - 影入れ勉強中

I’m not very good at adding shading to my illustrations, especially crisp and bold shading when I’m drawing digitally.
So I’ve been leaving my illustrations as finished without shading for a while now.
But I always wanted to learn and @torachibi gave me some advice a while ago so I’ve been following his advice and practicing it.
Although, it took me a long time to get a hang of it.
Today, I can finally show you how I did.

ぼかした感じの影入れはなんとなく出来ていたのですが、くっきりな…アニメ的な？影の付け方がイマイチ分からなくて、特にデジタルで描くイラストは、影を入れずに完成としていました。
なんとか影の入れ方を覚えたいなと思っていたところ、少し前に@torachibiさんにアドバイスを頂いたので、早速トライしていた私です。
が、やっぱり難しい！！！
何度も何度も描き直して、やっと形になっていきたので、投稿することにしました。

I thought that Luffy would be great to practice on.
So, here is my rough sketch.

こいう時は、何故かルフィで練習するのがいいなと思う私です。
ざくざくラフ画。

Line art.
I usually use some references but it doesn’t always turn out exactly as reference haha.

線画。
模写してるんですけどね〜 似てないし…^^;

Adding the base colours.
I usually stop around here and call it done.

大まかに色を塗ります。
今までは、この辺で完成としていました。

You get to see new ME thanks to @torachibi.
The trick here is to draw the line where you want to add shading and colour in with darker tone.
These red lines are drawn on the different layer so you can erase or hide them when you’re done.
I found that going through this process helped me see where to add shading better than ever and maybe, hopefully, I can skip this process in the future.

@torachibiさん、本当にアドバイスをありがとうございます。
くっきりな影を入れるために、入れたい部分に線を入れてから、そこを暗めの色で塗るというもの。
この赤の線は、違うレイヤーに描いているので、後で消すことが出来ます。
以前はどこにどうやって影を入れたら良いのか分からなかったのですが、この作業をすることで、それが見えてきたように思います。
練習を重ねたら、この作業はスキップして影を付けられるようになるのかな？

I still have no idea where to add shading on clothes :( ...but I like how his face turned out ;)

それにしても服の影入れがチンプンカンプンですけどね^^;
けど、顔は結構気に入ってます^^
