Another fantastic D&D location - Isometric Temple - Step by step pictorial and GIF
Hello Steemians, I've created another isometric illustration for my D&D adventures blog. Find it here; https://www.elventower.com/archives/2745
I will share some insights on how it came to be, here's the finished illustration for reference. I work with photoshop and a Wacom tablet.
First thing I do is create this very bad sketch ;)
Now I ink the main parts of the floor and the central shaft. the document is letter size 300 DPI.
I start adding the smaller things like rocks, stalagmites and the four cloud giant golems in the bottom chamber.
Now the super time-consuming task of drawing all the floor tiles and the cave floor.
For color, I decided to start with the smaller stuff, leaving the big parts like the floor for the end.
Now I lay the base color for the tiled floor.
I finish by adding all the rest of the colors and shading shadows.
A very important part is to decorate the background. I added margins and corner separators. I also added a pattern I illustrated for the background and set the opacity to 5%
Here's the finished work after adding, title, and other anotations.
I also created an animated version of this process in the GIF below, take a look.
Thanks for visiting my post.
I'm a graphic illustrator and I focus my work in tabletop RPG games like dungeons and dragons.
I'm new on Steemit but have great aims to share my work in posts like this one where people can see illustrations be created from the ground up.
Send some love, likes and follow me for awesome cartography illustrations.
I do this full time and I love creating fantastic locations !
