[VIDEO] Proportions! How to Sketch Products Quickly & Easily (It Gets Weird)
Proportions. It’s a pain to get right sometimes isn’t it. Well it doesn’t have to be.
In this video below, you’ll learn how to think about proportions when sketching products and of course….cars.
We're going to start out using our legendary BiC pen on some standard paper just to get a sense of what we are sketching. Create an outline in which the product sketch is going to go in.
Don't want to focus too much on markers here but I'm using 3-4 markers here just to add some volume to the shading. I'll post a lot more videos on marker sketching soon right here in my blog.
You want to start BIG. Explore the big elements of your products and how each element relates to another. Start with big cubes, rectangles and ellipses to get the proportions down correctly BEFORE going into detail.
There is no point of adding details if the scale and proportions are off. This is why we want to start using big geometries to “block” our product in.
