Son Goku (孫悟空 Son GokūJap), originally called Zero in the United States and Latin America (dubbing of Harmony Gold) and later Goku in the latter, is the main protagonist of the manga and anime of Dragon Ball created by Akira Toriyama. His birth name is Kakarot (カ カ ロ ッ ト Kakarotto Jap, Kakarrot) and he is one of the few Saiyan that managed to survive the total destruction of Planet Vegeta. He is the second son of Bardock and Gine, younger brother of Raditz, adopted grandson of Son Gohan, husband of Chi-Chi, father of Son Gohan and Son Goten, in turn is also the grandfather of Pan and ancestor of Son Goku Jr.

Originally sent to Earth as a baby with the mission to conquer it. However, falling down a ravine gave him a brutal blow that almost killed him but it altered his memory and annulled all the violent instincts of his species, which made him grow with a pure and kind heart, but keeping all the powers of his race. Later he would become the leader of the Z Warriors, as well as the greatest defender of Earth and Universe 7, managing to keep them safe from destruction countless times.
