in #drawing-s24w65 months ago

I hope you all are fine and happy. This is me @isha-rehman. Today I am taking part in the SC S24W6 drawing contest. This week's theme is “Portraits” and I decided to draw a girl’s face using only a pencil
I love pencil drawing because it helps me focus on shapes shadows and facial expressions. In this post I will show you my drawing process in 6 simple steps and I will explain everything.

My 6 Step Pencil Portrait Drawing

Step 1: Draw the Face Shape and Guidelines

1.jpg

I started by drawing an Oval shape for the head. Then I drew a vertical line down the middle. This line helps me keep the face even on both sides.
Next I added a horizontal line across the middle for the eye level. These lines are like a map for the face They help place the eyes Nose and mouth in the correct positions.

Step 2: Add Hair Shape and Face Feature Lines

2.jpg

In this step I lightly sketched the outline of the hair around the head. I didn’t draw details yet just the basic shape.
Then I drew more horizontal lines to show where the eye brows nose and lips would go. These are guides to help me place everything in the right place. This step is like Planning before building.

Step 3: Draw the Eyes Nose Lips and Ears

3.jpg

Now I started drawing the real face features. I carefully sketched the eyes making sure they were even on both side. Then I added the nose lips and ears.
I used light line so I could erase mistakes easily. I made sure to follow the guidelines I drew earlier. This step bring the face to life

Step 4: Add Hair Texture and Light Shading

4.jpg

In this step I drew more lines in the hair to show the direction of the strand.
Then I added light shadows on the face using a soft pencil (2B). I shaded under the eye around the cheeks nose and neck. These shadows make the face look 3D and more realistic.

Step 5: Deepen Shadows and Blend

5.jpg

Here I added darker shading using stronger pencil pressure. I shaded the sides of the nose under the chin around the hair and neck.
To make the shadows soft and smooth I used a blending tool (Cotton or tissue). This step helped the face look natural and Soft not rough.

Step 6: Add Final Details and Highlights

In the final step I improved the details. I darkened the eyes eyebrows and lip to make them pop. I also used an eraser to create highlights on the nose fore head and cheek
These bright areas help the face look shiny and realistic. I then cleaned up the drawing by Erasing extra line.

This drawing is fun and good challenge. I learn how important it is to plan the face keep it balance and use shadow properly.
Pencil sketch is a peaceful and Creative hobby. I will keep practicing to improved more.

Observaciones y recomendaciones:
