What is your opinion on a 50/50 curation split ?
Not so long ago there was a huge discussion about a community hard fork and one of the most controversial ideas from that hard fork was a 50/50 curation split in a way to rebalance the economics where it's way more worth to sell your vote to bidbots rather than just curate yourself.
There were arguments on the other end of the table arguing that authors would be discouraged from writing seeing their earnings drop like that especially in this bear market.
What do you think ?

I have been very happy with it over at smoke.io as it means that I don't feel that I am losing out by voting on other at all and there is no pressure to post to earn. I am happy to reward the people there with the knowhow and skills in they enjoy sharing and still benefit from my investment adequately. I think that overall, it would speed distribution through the system to lower levels.
I feel like this whole "I am voting for you to give you money" mindset is set to die with 50/50. It's much more of a "I am investing in your post to see good curation rewards later on".
It seems to balance the scales well and for me, has taken a lot of pressure off the feeling I must post which is good considering Smoke is not my area. Voting on comments is also much more popular there as it means that there is less competition which means those that aren't into posting regularly can earn very well by engaging.

Yes people would be less incentivized to post but we would kill bid bots...there is always a downside of a decision, but the way curation works now is unaccaptable so we might aswell experiment

When everybody sells their vote, there are no organic rewards (mostly) anyways. At least %50/%50 split may encourage human curation.
That's my thoughts as well, I'm like "welp we need to do something, anything, because this current situation is leading us straight to the wall"

I used to be against it. I moved more towards 50/50 but we should wait until we know how SMT change the game
The issue that I have with this whole "smts will save all" mindset is that then we have to wait for them to do things. And With the steemit inc restructuration they may as well not come until late 2019. So I am currently more focused on a logic like "We need to work on the current model and then we'll adapt if smts do change the game"
Apparently something is on track for H1 2019 if I'm not completely mistaken.
If it becomes obvious that its not going to happen 2019 we should change it rather quickly.

I am still giving this some thought and have not voted in the dPoll yet. I am very interested to read the comments of others so far. I will update if and when I do weigh in on the poll.
