I probably won't ever do this, but I like having the option of either SBD or STEEM to help promote a dpoll. I also like the choice of promoting one for seven days or longer, even though I don't think it will matter much.
I suppose if someone is trying to collect more feedback for some kind of serious study (whatever that might be), then having a promotion for more than a week might make sense, but then, they will also need to be doing something to draw attention to it elsewhere on STEEM, because there's really not a huge amount of regulars on dpoll without bringing more people to it.
The other thing that isn't in the favor of a longer promotion is that any hope of a larger upvote on the poll itself is gone after seven days, although it could continue with newer comments if someone were inclined to upvote them. I just think everything here on STEEM is designed for a shelf week of seven days.
Plus, I don't really see the promo dpoll, because it doesn't stand out. I know I've gone days without realizing it's even there.
I think for the second question about promoting a poll for a week. My thought is that it will be best to have the top promoted poll that appears on the home page for a maximum of one week and the opportunity be passed to another.
In all, it is not bad having a poll for 30 days in the promoted section but it does not look good to have one post at the top of all polls for 30 days.
