There is a Gun Issue in the U.S. but It Isn't the Only Issue
I'm overly-saturated with "what happened and why" in the first 24 hours of this incorrigible incident happening, par for the course, and I needed a break. We all do.
There's blame to cast regardless of what side of the gun ownership side-of-the-fence you fall on but one thing has been clear in every instance. People aren't doing their jobs. Whether you're elected or hired...you're not doing your job. Maybe you're just there to turn in a time card, maybe you think that you're underpaid, or maybe you're seduced by a lobbyist or something that will make your life better by skirting the laws and common sense.
Now before you think I'm someone who thinks that particular privilege should be taken away? Keep in mind that the movie "Enemy of the State" , the "Matrix" series, and even the "Terminator" series have an uncomfortable truth lingering throughout their storyline.
The 2nd amendment gives us ample reason for bearing arms. Especially with DARPA doing what they do. Yes, my tin-foil hat is adjusted just fine. I digress.
The point of this post is because, in my opinion, that people who are supposed to be in charge of keeping the public safe, in regards to proper gun ownership and public safety, etc, are not doing their jobs. Examples from various sources are used and not from one biased source.

The teenage sons were in the garage making things and were suddenly wearing all Black clothing but the parents didn't bother to wonder what was going on. Blame it on a two-parent income or don't. Oh wait...Jonbennet Ramsey is still a sensitive issue, as it should be, but they couldn't figure that out, despite the obvious, either.

In My Opinion...
There are a LOT of people who aren't doing their jobs. Whether it be an "elected" official making laws and not being in a pissing contest, someone actually doing background checks according to the law, or even parents wondering, what your children are doing while they and their spouse, are working to keep pizza rolls in their kids gullet and they forget to take the trash out. Do. Your. Job.
Can you can live the rest of your life with their blood on your hands. YOU should have to answer to those parents, those siblings, and those who loved you. YOU could have been the difference. YOU could have kept some asshat from entering a school, grocery store, government building, restaurant, or military base(again...doing YOUR JOB!) where people actually try and do good for their country?
Do.Your.Job.
No, it may not pay much but you signed up for it. It's most likely not rocket science (SpaceX has/will replaced you anyway) but it gives you purpose, people rely on you, and we've all been there. Trust me.
It gets better but in the meantime..
