Investment of capital - is productive activity
People can create value by their body or mind, by applying tools or by investing their capital - all the means are appropriate.
The problem with communists is usually that they can't recognise other than their own means to produce value. Since they don't understand other means, they assume these are some obfuscated method of stealing from them.
