Zakat for Scavengers in Aceh

First of all I give an appreciation to @tarekadam who has organized an extraordinary contest. For me, this contest is a charity charity contest that not only bermafaat in the world but also felt the benefits until the hereafter. Extraordinary! Greetings from Aceh as a sharia country.

I @nasir83 in steemit focus on environmental content. So, in my daily life I often deal with social conditions related to the environment. Social condition of scavengers for example.

Being a scavenger is not an option, but a compulsion due to the economic need and the difficulty of employment. A scavenger every day is in a garbage dump site to scavenge the provision of sewage waste, such as used bottles, paper, cardboard, cans, and various other items. Every day they have to deal with germs and smell bad to meet the needs of his life.

Not only a husband, his wife is also the same profession, that is becoming a scavenger. In a survey activity, I found a family who work as scavengers and have a small child who was always with him in the trash. The child is aged between 3-4 years.

Every day this child is brought by his parents to the waste location to find used goods. A garbage dump becomes a play area for this child. Flies and germs became his playmates, used bottles, cans, and junk toys in the trash can be used as a game tool for him. Supposedly, the child is not in the trash, but his age is in the School Kindergarten. But because his parents do not have economic ability, then forced the child and then self-educated into a scavenger generation.

If I @nasir83 was selected as the winner of this contest, then the prize will be distributed to the scavengers family in Aceh. Because when viewed from the recipient group of zakat, the scavenger families into the category of poor families who are entitled to receive zakat. Hopefully this proposal becomes special consideration for @tarekadam so that through the contest prize can be channeled zakat to them. Especially now is the month of Ramadan and almost close to the day of Eid, of course what we give will be very valuable for them.
