Bulwer-Lytton was known for writing popular historical romances in late Victorian age, but in 1871, wrote a very unusual novel that some have said can be considered the first example of science fiction. The story follows a young narrator, who accidentally discovers an underground cavern peopled by secret race of beings, who power their world by mastering a force known as Vril power. By mastering this power, one could be invincible, no army could defeat you. In time, the narrator longs to return home and manages to return to the surface, with the warning for reader: "The Coming Race" plan to rise up and take over, from which we have no defense. Bulwer-Lytton refused to discuss the book, nor would he declare it a work of fiction. The book was ignored for decades, until Hitler read the book in prison and decided that he would find this secret master race and learn the secrets of Vril power. Once Chancellor, he would direct funding to teams of Nazis searching the planet for entrances to the inner world. They eventually wound up in Tibet, where the monks were happy to enter an agreement with the Nazis, and reveal what hidden treasures lie buried and forgotten in far off places. The Nazis set off for Antarctica, and....found more than they bargained for.....Freedom Parade ...Vril Power? some say it's a type of anti-gravity technology...can power aircraft....Freedom Parade .....Vril women? ladies who claim to have contacted this master race of beings living on distant planets...Freedom Parade.... Some readers have believed the account of a superior subterranean master race and the energy-form called "Vril", at least in part; some theosophists, notably Helena Blavatsky, William Scott-Elliot, and Rudolf Steiner, accepted the book as based on occult truth, in part. One 1960 book, The Morning of the Magicians, suggested that a secret Vril Society existed in Weimar Berlin.
