Weekly Top 20 Domain Name Sales - Week 12
Week of 11/05/19 to 11/11/18
This last week had one particularly large sale... a two letter .com (LL.com) sold in the high 6 figures! These are the sales we all love to see and read about and they are the ones that create new domain investors. I'll admit, reading about six figure and million dollar domain sales made a believer out of me. I first started domain investing after reading about huge million dollar sales.
We're not all going to get those sales and most of us will never own a domain worth six figures, but the stories do give you a push and make you feel motivated to keep after it. I remember reading about Michael Castello and his 3.1 million dollar sale of whisky.com and how back then domain investments just clicked in his mind. He went through health problems and money issues but held onto his domains and in the end it paid off big.
These kinds of stories are great and incredibly motivating. Seeing the large sales today is often a reminder that those days of blockbuster sales aren't over and opportunities in domaining still exist.

These top 20 sales have a combined total of $923,587 dollars making the average sale price $46,179 dollars.
Domains with History
Number 3 on the list (topmall.com) has a recorded sales history. It sold for $3,975 dollars on November 24th, 2010 at Sedo. That's a gain of $16,075 dollars in 8 years. Nice!
Number 7 (topcars.com) has a sales history. The domain sold for $4,500 dollars on August 2nd, 2011 at Sedo. That's a gain of $10,088 in about 7 years.
Finally, we have number 8 (k.vg) which has a sales history. The domain sold for $1,100 dollars on August 27th, 2015 at Flipp. A big gain of $10,236 in just 3 years!
About the Names
Today's list breaks down to 17 .com domains, 1 .vg domains, 1 .io domain and 1 .top domain. I'm a bit surprised by the sale prices on the .vg and .top domains, but the .vg is a single letter domain so maybe someone saw value in that. The 6m.top domain is puzzling to me.
My favorite domains on the list are obviously mk.com and tiw.com but I also like hightea.com and globalcare.com. nuva.com is a fun bradable domain but I wouldn't have paid 10k for it, that's more an end user price in my opinion.
