Week 16 (December 2018)

Welcome to Recent Developments. In this series I post about domain names that sold recently and have since become developed into an actual website. In other words, this is a focus on end user sales and what they are doing with their recent domain purchase!

End user info in the domain name industry can be extremely valuable. You can learn a lot from this type of data, because it shows you what an end user price was for a particular domain name. Hopefully you can apply that knowledge to your own domain investing both on the buy as well as the sale side. If you know what people are willing to pay for a domain it can help you price your domains right to sell.

On top of all that, it's fun to see what's new on the web!

Domains Recently Developed

I've got another 3 domains that all sold last month, in October. Three different orders of magnitude are covered in our 3 sales, and we've got one 5 figure sale! Let's take a look at what sold and was developed recently... Enjoy!

TheBookmarkShop.com

First up is TheBookmarkShop.com which sold for $710 at GoDaddy on October 8th, 2018. This domain belongs to an online retailer. This is what they say on their site,

The Bookmark Shop provides a large range of personalised gifts, engraved wedding gifts and personalised bookmarks for your friends, family and even just for you.

According to archive.org it would appear that this 'new' development is actually just the site that was previously on the domain, as far back as 2006. If I had to guess, I'd say the owner accidentally let the name drop and had to buy it back at auction.

This happens more often to companies and businesses than you might think.

PROTECT AND TAKE CARE OF YOUR DOMAINS!

WristOS.com

Next up is WristOS.com which sold for $3,000 at Sedo on October 9th, 2018. A company called, Wrist Technology is using the domain and they appear to be making and selling wearable computer devices and operating systems to go with them.
There's not much on their site about the company apart from this marketing line,

Experience the most customizable wrist watch platform. Wrist Technology has it all covered.

When I first saw the domain I read it as wristos and didn't really get the sale price but now that I know it's an OS that they're offering the name makes more sense and I can see why they found it valuable. It would appear that WristTechnology.com is taken so this domain makes sense for them.

Jolyn.com

Finally, we have Jolyn.com which sold for $10,025 at GoDaddy on October 8th, 2018. This is our 5 figure sale!

Currently, the domain forwards to JolynClothing.com and appears to be a company offering performance swimwear. Their goal is to make more fun stylish performance swimwear.

I'm not a huge fan of this domain, but for this company it's a no-brainer. They already named themselves Jolyn and needed this domain. It's a huge upgrade from their currently used domain and I'm sure they'll eventually have this as their main domain.

Well, that concludes this edition of Recent Developments.
