Week 21 (January 2019)

Welcome to Domains in the Wild. In this series I post images of domain names that I've spotted out and about in the real world. Then I write a bit about what I think of each one. It's easy to miss domain names, but they're all around us and play a key role in a companies branding, messaging and design. Spotting them and taking a photo is sort of a fun hunting game to play while you're out and it takes very little effort once you start looking for them. Once you start to play, you will start seeing domains everywhere without even trying.

If you catch any yourself, please share them with us all in the comments.

Without further delay, here are the domain names that I found in the wild recently...

The Domains

The theme is company vehicles this week. I found all of these domains on vans belonging to companies around the area.

BlueFlameComfort.com

The first domain up is BlueFlameComfort.com. This domain belongs to Blue Flame, a company based in Mountlake Terrace, WA. The company is an HVAC company serving the Seattle area since 1994.

The domain has their name in it but it's not an exact match. It's a bit long at 3 words but it does end in a .com and isn't that hard to say or remember. All in all, I would say it's a just okay domain but they could definitely look for and benefit from an upgrade if possible. At the moment it looks like BlueFlame.com is taken.

RaincapConstruction.com

Next up is RaincapConstruction.com. This domain belongs to a company in Seattle offering general construction and electric work.

This domain is also a bit long but it's 2 words rather than 3 like the previous. It's not a bad domain as it's a close match of their company name, it's just missing the 'electric' in the domain but that would definitely make it too long. My conclusion is that it's an okay domain.

RFI.com

Finally, we have RFI.com. This domain belongs to a Communications & Security Systems company with locations in California, Nevada and Seattle Washington.

This domain is great. This is one of the better domains in the wild that I've ever seen that was somewhat local. It's a 3 letter .com that is easy to say and remember. These 3 letter (LLL) .coms are worth a ton and almost always great investments if you can afford them!

Well, that concludes this edition of Domains in the Wild.
