Discover Great Domain Names With These 4 No Cost Online Tools

in #domain-names8 years ago (edited)

Have you ever spent days or longer trying to come up with the perfect domain name for your new website? Oftentimes when I sit looking at the blank domain name line within the registrar of choice, it seems to just mock my lack of creativity.

How often do we hear that all the good domain names are taken! But after discovering a few free and easy to use online tools to help with this process, I no longer have trouble coming up with fun, creative and sometimes even the perfect domain name.

Here are four of my favorites. Just a word of warning: it is easy to lose track of time on these sites.

LeanDomainSearch.com
LeanDomainSearch is my favorite domain search tool. It is my go-to. With Lean Domain Search you start off with a base word. It will then come back with hundreds and perhaps thousands of domain names that contain that word. You can select whether you want that base word to be listed first or last. If you don’t choose either, it will return all possibilities in the same list.

ShortDomainSearch.com
This site is just as it sounds. It will find domain names that have 4 to 6 characters. As you might imagine, the best names are taken quickly, but the list gets refreshed every ten minutes. It does not contain any .com, .org, or .net domains, but you can search by the TLDs that remain.

TheNameApp.com
The NameApp will provide not only domain names but it will also let you know if the Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr name is available as well. This is a great resource if you want to brand the name that you have found.

Naminum.com
Like LeanDomainSearch.com, Naminum.com will generate domain names given a base word that you supply.

What is unique about this site is that if will generate random names if you choose to not provide a base word.

Please feel free to share in the comment section your favorite online tools that generate great domain names!

This is a great list. LeanDomainSearch is one of my goto tools when looking for a new domain name. Another personal favorite is https://instantdomainsearch.com/

Thanks for the link! I had never heard of Instantdomainsearch. I use leandomainsearch most of the time too.

Great information... If you have looked for a domain you know it can get rather frustrating when all the ones you want are already taken -- Thanks for the tips!

You're welcome! These tools make it so much easier.
