River Dolphin of Assam (India), a rare acquatic animal of the world.

The Indian government declared "Ganga Dolphin" as the National Aquatic Animal of the country. River Dolphin's popularly known in local language as "Xihu" now is a rare species which is found only in South-Asian Countries particularly in India. In India the river Dolphins are found in the river Ganga, Chambal, Gandak and in the Brahmaputtra River of Assam.

While less than 2,000 Gangetic River Dolphins remain in the Brahmaputra along Guwahati. Now it become as rare animal. Interestingly the river Dolphins of Brahmaputra river of Assam are blind. They rely on sound and echolocation to navigate and communicate.

To preserve this animal each and every person of Assam are aware. moreover the good news is that the Assasm Government declared Guwahati first city in India to have City Animal, declares River Dolphin as mascot.
