BTW in my professional opinion, Dolly Parton was full on live yesterday, no lip syncing. Every song was loaded with ad-lib vocal flights, stuff you don’t duplicate precisely… or at all. And no mismatches between sound and visual. None.

If there is any pro in America who can still let it rip in front of millions, without fear of a stumble, when she’s almost 80… it’s Dolly.

She brought the country to a halt. Millions of guys who were getting up to grab a beer at halftime stood stock still, immobilized, halfway to the fridge, cranking the volume to 11.

She might be America’s favourite singer, judging by the videos I’ve seen of those American men … watching their TV sets in awe and silence while standing next to the couch. Seventy seven years old, in a Cowboy Cheerleader outfit… and 100 million men falling in love just like their grandfathers did over fifty years ago…
