Collecting Fancy Serial Numbers on Currency ... Birthday notes.

in #dollar7 years ago

Collecting fancy serial numbers can be fun. One niche of this interesting hobby is to collect birthday notes. That is serial numbers that are a birthday. Generally people collect the following formats MMDDYYYY, or European style DDMMYYYY, or even YYYYMMDD or YYYYDDMM. Others even try to stretch this idea with examples like 01955113 (XYYYYMDD) or (XYYYYMMD). I still think the first two that I listed are the only real true ones.

There is even a subreddit called ''birthday notes''

Find your birthday on money.

https://www.reddit.com/r/BirthdayNotes/

The guy who runs the exchange has you send him a note when they find your note. That way it is free of charge. You can also look on Ebay and have a saved search that will allow you to be notified if your serial number shows up.

Have fun collecting.

I never really thought of that, it sounds like a lot of fun. Do you go to the bank and ask for $1 bills to sort through?
