RUSTIC STONE HEARTH

Hi everybody! This is a look at my stonework. The wall is comprised of intricately cut individual cultured stones. They're are pieced together like a puzzle and are fit tightly together with a beveled edge on all four sides. The stonework is cemented on top of cement board that is screwed to the wall with tie strap anchor screws every four courses. The hearth itself is actually a 3 level hearth although you can't see it in the picture. The stove is on the second lowest level which is 6 inches above the floor. The highest level is about 15 inches that carries the metal rack that holds the firewood. The lowest level is just the thickness of the stone slab, approximately 2 inches.

The stove itself is and Englander step top high efficiency wood stove that we use to heat our 2000 square foot home.
