Buddy Blanche. Meet my dog
When we settled into our new home we wanted a bow wow to keep the cat on his toes. He was getting too cocky! The cat is mad but thats another post. So we went to a rescue home up the Comeragh mountains that had rescue goats, horses, pot-belly pigs , you name it they had it. So we spotted a miniature collie pup that we liked the look of. When we went up the collie had already been taken to a new home. Two black puppies caught my wifes eye. They were quiet and away from the rest. One was sick and they said that he wasn't well enough to be re-homed. His sister was though so we couldn't leave her behind. So we said we will be back that Saturday as we needed time to prepare for a little girl. My wife kept mentioning the sick puppy. He looked so sad and nervous. So we went back up on the Saturday, and one of the keepers gave away the bitch pup. He said sorry. Aoife my wife asked to see the poorly one again. The lady running it said that they had to feed him separately because the other dogs getting food before him, he had lung worm and they didn't expect him to make it. She would go and get him. She carried him out to us and plopped him on the ground. We love an underdog literally. 😂. He was coming home with us. The vet fees cost a bomb to get rid of the lung worm and he needed a good feed. He was 3 months. But he was so nervous. What happened to the poor fella? He shook all the way home in the car. Properly frightened, not of the car but by the humans with him. This was the first photo of him. Very small, sick and frightened. Ladies and gentlemen meet Buddy, Budzo, Budster. Bud.
After a few days he started trusting us and started to make a new friend. This place was gonna be his forever home and he started playing. The cat showed him the robes. Feeding time, walks etc and they soon became inseparable. I think the cat knew he was treated badly because he was very very nice to his new brother. Whenever we were shopping, asleep we came back and there they were , together.
First day with Jeff our cat showing Buddy the ropes.
We knew buddy was half rottweiler and half red setter and we knew he was gonna get big. His paws were massive as a puppy. But he had the kind temperament. He was afraid of his own shadow and men especially. He still has his inner circle and everyone else he avoids on walks by running into fields and walking around them. He is big now so this is actually good when he is off the lead because noone wants to see a rottweiler coming at you at speed. I have to have a chat to him sometimes because even jack russells' try and chase him and he runs away. I sit him down and show him a mirror and remind him hes bigger than the rest and he shouldn't be afraid of every other dog.
Anyway when Buddy was 1 my wife fell pregnant. He used to be staring her out of it and putting his nose on her belly. The dog acting all weird is better than any blue stripe test. Nine months later little Grace was born so we introduced Buddy to our new arrival. We were not nervous in the slightest. We knew he would be fine. Here's a few pictures of our 1 year old and our zero year old. Don't worry people, dog and baby were always supervised. Baby is now 2 and doggy is 3. Sorry for the side shots. We love you buddy. The best doggy ever!!
Thanks to @supernovastaffy for starting the idea.
Hello @blanchy!
Congratulations! Thanks for using the #dogsofsteemit hashtag! This post has been chosen as one of the winners for Episode 26 of the #dogsofsteemit challenge.
Can't wait to see more dog photos from you!
Wow thanks @supernovastaffy. My first winning post ever!!
Hi blanchy. I am glad you took the sick dog anyway. I would've done the same. I love rotties and have had big dogs in the past. Bull mastiff now ,but think he is a dud. Not huge and is a total softy and loves children.
I went to go and collect my parrot as a birthday present. I chose a Macaw but it actually chose me (no biting). Like you there was another Macaw that had a bleeding foot that most likely bit. My wife chose him and deal done. Forget the one crooning on my shoulder and was perfect. I have bird that bites like shit now and isn't the easiest to carry around.
Haha. @cryptoandcoffee are you a pirate?😂
Yes, but not putting this one near my ear.
Just put some deep heat on your ear !😂
