We are several thousand miles from the ocean. It buffers the impact a lot. We can have our own storms here, that are as severe as a hurricane, but do not last as long. Here they are called tornadoes, and winds can top 200 MPH, but the storms only last for hours.
in Europe we do not know such violent tornadoes and storms yet .... other natural catastrophes Earthquakes and floods ... that's something we have a lot in Europe too.
From America I know personally only Miami, Everglades and Key West ... I was twice on vacation .... I liked it very much

I hope you stay safe, I am in the middle of the country, so we only get rain from a Hurricane and usually a week later.

I agree with you, scales are EVIL, ROFLOL! Avoid them, and stay happy! :) Life is better that way anyway.
