Daily Dog Breeds : American Pitbull Terrier

This is an introduction to a series of posts i'll be making daily on different dog breeds, for starters I thought I'd start with one of the most notoriously known breeds: The American Pitbull Terrier

The Pitbull was bred around the 1800's by breeding old english terriers and old english bulldogs to make a breed that would have the gameness of a terrier and the athleticism of a bulldog.

Physically a pitbull is a short to medium sized dog breed and is very solidly built with dense muscles giving it an athletic look. Unfortunately it's reputation precedes it as it is known to be one of the most violent and dangerous dog breeds, this is largely due to the breeds use in illegal dog fighting and used by criminals for nefarious activities such as guarding illegal drugs etc...

Pitbull character traits are that of strength, confidence and zest for life, the breed overall is very energetic and athletic. It is possibly one of the strongest and most agile dog breeds pound for pound. Pitbulls make very good companion and police dogs. The average lifespan of a pitbull is around 8-15 years.
