LoL. Kind of. It's not like the kind they use in sports stadiums, though. The correct term for this stuff may not even be astroturf, but that's just what others have called it. This stuff looks more like fake grass/a shaggy green carpet and is aerated at the bottom so that the urine can seep through to the dirt below and the surface can also be hosed down if there are large messes.

It actually makes some sense, at least in my experiences, because there are a number of dogs who will only pee on "grass" because that's how they were trained as pups. Murder Dog, for example, had a lot of difficulty going on dirt or rocks for awhile because she was just so accustomed to going in the backyard or on grassy areas during walks.
