Update on "Cream"

There are a lot of dogs and cats that have captured our hearts over the years but none so much as a temple dog named "Cream." Cream has such an amazing and gentle personality and demeanor that basically everyone that meets her immediately loves her. This is true with the monk, any visitors to the temple, and basically any veterinarian that has ever met her.

Cream's two best friends who are always near her two much smaller Pomeranian style dogs, but they never have any arguments and can be found snuggling or playing all the time. Cream has the same temperament towards just about any other dog and if there is ever any aggression, it certainly isn't started by her.

Unfortunately for Cream, she ended up getting dealt a bad hand in life as far as health is concerned and she ended up with massive tumors that required 2 major surgeries, one minor one, and continued chemotherapy treatments. Throughout all of this Cream has never developed a fear of us and she never gives us any trouble when it comes time to put her in a cage for transport. She complies with whatever, even though I am certain she would probably rather not take another trip to the vet.

I'm not going to provide before images of the tumors but they were extreme and were so big that they were dangling like a balloon hanging from the underside of her belly and while we did not test this theory, I would imagine that they were quite sensitive to the touch. It was a long process to remove this tumor as well as deal with the cancerous growth that started it which was inside of her body.

These days, this is the only remnant of the terrible affliction that affected Cream and without question would have ended her life prematurely. According to the vets, there is no sign of spread of the cancer as of yet, but we will continue to monitor Cream regardless.

This was one of our largest and most expensive individual dog projects that we have ever undertaken and we are thankful to all of our sponsors and volunteers for making it possible. If you ever get a chance to meet Cream, you will understand that it was all worth it.
