All is well in the Tiger Cave Temple

in #dogs5 months ago

Because it is our pet project and because it is quite near our headquarters I frequently stop by the Tiger Cave Temple complex to check in on the more than 100 dogs that call that place home. While the monks do alert us if there is a new addition to the pack or some sort of ailment, I do like to go and check myself because the monks have other duties and don't work for me.

Plus I like to go and see my friends.

I may have mentioned it before but that construction behind me has been going on for as long as I have lived here and they don't seem to be in any sort of rush to actually finish it. It's been going on for at least 15 years and honestly, I haven't noticed much change as far as any of it is concerned in the past several years. I don't understand why they are taking forever to do this but I hope it is because they are building it right!

Because of the heat the dogs were a little slow to come and greet me today, but once I got the food out they started to gather. I will feed any dog that comes to me but I try to focus on the skinnier ones first.

This little fella is one of the newer additions to the temple, he got here around 6 months ago. Thankfully the pack has accepted him and there hasn't been any fighting that me or the monks are aware of.

Once everyone had their kibbles i passed out some bones that the butcher gives me for a very low price. These are the leftovers from whatever animal they were carving up and the dogs love it. They will sit there for an hour if need be just widdling away at their bone.

one thing that probably seems obvious but is also very important is that if I do not have enough bones to give all of them one, it is better to give none of them one. They normally all get along very well but they will fight over a bone if there isn't enough to go around. When this happens I will just give them something else like a treat instead. They don't know the difference and appreciate whatever I give them.

I am happy to report that there doesn't appear to be any illness or injury to any of the dogs that I saw today, and every day that is like this I consider it to be a win.
