A dogs life

in #dogs7 years ago (edited)

If there is any chance of reincarnation, I want to come back as my dog. Not A dog, but MY dog. That animal has the best life around.

Here on the islands many people have a very different perception on how an animal should be treated. Often I will see dogs tied to a chain, with a lot of shit around the them. This means the dog never will have a chance in his life to run free. Always tied to a chain. That breaks my heart.

With the hurricane a lot of people abondoned their dogs already before hand already. Even people I know very well said that they left their dog outside during a hurricane Cat 5. And they love their dog very much, but they didnt even consider taking their dog inside while 200 mph winds were flying by.

I don't understand and I never will understand

A dog is a living animal which is part of your family from the moment you decide to take it in. And as with all other living creatures, this means you have to take care of it also then the going gets tough.

After the hurricane a lot of people lost their houses and they had no place for their dog. Also a lot of people left the island and left their animal behind without anybody taking care of them.

Again, I don't understand and I never will understand.

My dog is my friend. I leave him on my porch when I am not home as a guarddog. Because a housewatcher is not a bad thing, and honestly he likes being on the porch very much. If the weather is terrible I will give him a chance to get inside. A living animal deserves that.

Many homeless dogs were adopted afterwards. Its good to see most of them got a new forever home, and also the local shelter is doing a great job on a spay and neuter program for the stray dogs. Even a special plane came in to fly out a lot of dogs to the States for forever homes.

If I had more space, I would adopt more dogs. Get a big garden, some space of their own. Take them to deserted beaches to let them run all together.

One day, maybe. One day...

It saddens me to see abandoned dogs and cats trapped with no help. There was a lot of that during the hurricanes and tornadoes here. One day, I want to care for a few animals (when I am able to get home at reasonable times so they can have outdoor breaks). 💜

Exactly, one day! I really see the dogs here prefer to be outside, and my dog is also so much more happier since he hovers on the porch in stead of being locked up in the house when I am not there. So only when I would have a big fat garden I will take more dogs I guess.

It is sad how a lot of people treat their animals, and I wish I could do more about it

Keep that dream, @karinxxl! Someday it will come true for you. I had that dream when I was much younger, now I am living that dream on my homestead by the Pacific Ocean with my 5 rescue dogs and 3 cats. And other animals too. All are well cared for and never left alone.

Exactly, that would seem so perfect to me. To have some more animals and give them the proper love and attention that they deserve.

You did it in a right way ceci, and should be proud!
