Walter's New Floaty Toy
Walter is our 5 year old Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, and a beast in the water. Swissy's are known for being very timid near water and very few owners seem to have the patience or opportunity to get them the water-confidence needed to enjoy swimming.
Walter's pretty close to drown proof at this point and his working dog endurance is pretty remarkable in the lake. As long as he's got a "stick" to chase the boy can go for hours.
Major key with getting a timid dog to become confident in the water is repetition. Getting a little bit better each day is good enough. It took at least 2 dozen trips to the water to get this guy from a whiner to a swimmer; take your time.
