Basenji, Dog Type Behaved Like a Cat
Dogs are usually kept to keep a house, or be a playmate. When playing, the dog usually expresses pleasure, sadness, or being angry with barking. But do you know, if there are types of dogs that can not bark and even often behave like a cat?
Basenji dog is a dog that does not bark and tend to be quiet like a cat, until this dog is often dubbed as "voiceless dog" or "barkless dog". Uniquely, because it can not bark when expressing pleasure or anger, it will sound like a human laugh or cry.
Another uniqueness of this dog is his licking behavior, to a pensive silence watching the window like a cat. The size of the dog is fairly small with a flat and long skull and has a round muzzle. Her height reached 40 to 43 centimeters weighing about ten kilograms.
Basenji dogs have short, fine-textured feathers. Typically, the legs, chest, and tail tip are white, and the other fur color is reddish brown, black, or a mixture of black and brown.
This type of dog is one of the oldest dog breeds originating from Central Africa. Basenji is often given as a gift to the pharaohs of ancient Egypt. After the Egyptian civilization ceased, Basenji was often kept in Central Africa for hunting purposes.
Basenji was rediscovered by British explorers in the nineteenth century, though not much maintained and developed until the 1940s. In 1980, basenji dogs were almost extinct because of the outbreak of fanconi syndrome which is a disease of their racial ancestry.
