Dog Rescue !!! 220 km from the coast away

in #dog5 years ago

The employees of an oil rig, located some 220 km off the coast of Thailand, barely believed their eyes when they saw, between the waves in the sea, the head of a completely exhausted brown dog, who was obviously struggling for his life between the high waves. The men did not think long and were able to fish the dog out of the sea and bring it safely to the oil rig.

The brown dog, who was called "Boonrod" by his rescuers - (Thai for "good karma survivors") - was completely exhausted but obviously very happy to be back on solid ground under his paws.

There was no indication of how the dog got there or how long he had been fighting for his life on the high seas. Local media speculate, however, that it may have dropped off a fishing vessel near the rig and then "paddled" towards the rig.

"Since the dog came to us on the platform, he has neither yelled nor barked anyone," said the employee of the Chevron oil rig, Mr. Vitisak Payalaw, in a post on his Facebook page, where he described the rescue of the dog along with numerous pictures and published.

Boonrod stayed on the rig for two nights before another ship, which brought the crew of the oil rig back on shore, took the dog and delivered it to a port in Songkhla province on Monday morning.

Here he was taken under the supervision of a veterinarian by an animal welfare group in receipt. According to the veterinarian, the dog is doing well. However, his skin softened by salt water and its fur first have to recover, said the veterinarian.

"He probably lost a lot of his body water by spending hours swimming around in the seawater," the vet added.

Mr. Vitisak, the crew member involved in rescuing the dog, told the local press that he plans to take over the now famous dog as soon as he returns to the country at the end of the month.

In a video released by the animal rights group "Watchdog Thailand", Boonrod was greeted by the dockers on the shore with a wreath of yellow flowers around their necks and many creepers and pats.

"Thank you for respecting the life of a small dog and saving it from the sea," said Mr. Wan Wongvorakul, an employee of Watchdog Thailand.

Boonrod was subsequently looked after and cared for by the local charity "Smile Dog House".

"So far, his health is fine. He only suffered skin problems from the salt water, but he is recovering well now, "said a Smile Dog House employee to the local press.
