This Dog is worth your time !

"Amare et sapere vix deo conceditur" “Even God finds it hard to love and be wise at the same time”

I only see him when in my parents old village house. He's not mine, he belongs to a Romanian family that lives down the street; but in reality he is not their dog either; everyone thinks he is someone else's dog, he has no master and no owner. He is in essence, a true free being, a sort of drifter that comes and goes. He is lucky to have made it so far... I would guess he has been abandonned several times but he himself has also bailed out on some of his previous owners leaving as he felt neglet or living with asshole or someone who just ignored him. Most likely Pepito simply found some of his former owner's company unfufilling, lacking meaning, purpose...and you cant live without purpose. They did not like to go out onto the fields where he could chase and fetch the sheep, the speeding hares or the ocassional flying partridge, like he use to do with his former owner the shepherd. He is very independent and charismatic.

He's not too old, but no spring-chicken either, kind of like me. Being a little guy like he is forces him to adapt to situations where he has no upper hand and in so doing can keep head above water, just like me again....We are kindred spirits, only in different form.

I once saw him runing down the street with a big chorizo sausage hanging from his mouth. Sausage whose origins were some inadverted neighbor's plate. One can only naturally asssume it to be so being lunch time as it was and seeing him running in a manner such that was sure sign he had done something he well knew he shouldnt have. True story, I swear.

Anyway, one does whatever necessary to survive, no? It is this survivor attitude that i most admire in this little creature of a dog.But village people dont feell the same way, as they do not tolerate that sort of behavior in an animal thus, he is pushed aside and outside, chased with brums and sticks by most everyone ...
He's also been runned over by vehicules a couple of times scaping sure death with just a limping paw that healed after some time on both occassions.... But Pepito dont mind his bum lifestyle, he used to it(Ok so, this typo I meant to do in purpose, i just wanted the reader to know this). He has always been and still is somewhat homeless, and will probably remain so by choice. He was @ some point in his life a shepherd's company dog from whom he learned all his tricks, which is why he's such a nice dog.... to me anyway. He is incredibly smart and knows how to adapt to any situation, most times by just taking off and evacuating his little ass away from the situation as soon as possible, other times by just giving in laying belly up in front of you, defenseless....Yeah; he is one smart litlle dog.

There are many Pepitos out there. Some walk on two legs and have names like Peter, Michael, Philip or John or... What is your name again...???
