This Insane Sport Hundreds of Years Old Still Going Today in Florence

Recently caught this Vice Sports Documentary about a Brutal Sport hundreds of years old going back to Gladiator Times which is still alive today.

Apparently there's four quadrants to the city of Florence, divided by which church or which parish they belong to. Apparently this sport goes back hundreds of years and is still alive today. One day each year the teams, all represented by a specific color hit this soccer like dirt field and play this sport which is sort of a cross between Lacross, Soccer, Bareknuckle Boxing and MMA.

There seems to be almost no rules with guys getting in knockout fist fights and throwing flying kicks at opponents heads while they are trying to score. The goal besides pummeling your opponents, is to throw a soccer like ball through a small net which runs the entire length of both sides of the field.

Give it a watch, definitely worth it.
