D&D 5e Tonight!

So every Wednesday, I am part of a Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition home-brew group. We are using the Roll20.net platform for gameplay, and discord to communicate. I was a late addition to the game and got a few perks for doing so.

First, I got to jump in at level eight, so I get to forego all of the early game-play where you are trying to "figure your character out". You know, all of that "how did we meet?", "What's our motivation in the game?", "Remember when that CR 2 creature almost killed us all because we rolled horribly?". You know, the nonsense that builds relationships over time and keep the party from killing each other. Yeah, i get none of that, so I can be whoever i want instead of what the party wants. Sometimes this is more fun.

Second, the group had been TPK'd previously and since it was the third attempt for them, the DM decided to make things interesting and pulled them into that world's dark future via a vampire story-line so I got to choose an evil character alignment to mesh with the world and act as a "guide" of sorts. I have different motivations than the group, I can do things they may not at first because they used to be good. Now they are fangers with disassociation disorder. People treate them differently and they don't get it yet. The world has been taken over by a blood god that has adapted the sky to be more suitable for vampires. Permanently dusk with cloud cover. This makes me less of a lacky, more of a resource if they ask the right questions.

Finally, I got to pick any item off of a rare and wonderous item list! My choice? It is a game breaker in this world and the DM doesn't even know it. I can't wait to use it in the end game scenario! I'll keep that part a secret. Just know when the time comes, you won't have to guess what i picked!
