The first and most important thing to remember is that everyone is different everyone DM's different and everyone plays the game different and that's okay in fact its great.

Tip :1 find your style

Finding your style is one of the easiest things you can do in D&D all you have to do is play the game, your style will come to you and you will learn the style of other players or other DMs just by watching and listening in observing. You should pay a specific attention to how they tell their story, and how they Pace their game but most importantly how they encourage character choice and set up encounters to get the entire group involved. The key is to carefully move the story along and not pressure your players into making decisions that they wouldn't want to make otherwise. Some people love roleplay some people love more heavy combat oriented games and whether you like being minimalist or playing with sound effects or maybe even scented candles do whatever you enjoy whatever going to get you into the game as the DM and your enthusiasm will be infectious your characters will really enjoy it if you really enjoy it. I personally take notes on how other DMS Run games my favorite is Matt Mercer from critical role ( if you don't know what that is you should look it up)

Tip 2: try it out

You'll never know what kind of DM style or game style works best for you if you don't simply try it out you'll learn what your players enjoy the most and you can tweak it the next time around to better fit with you and they want. As a DM you have to put yourself out there in front of others for the whole experience and your players will do the same though put themselves out there to whatever level they're comfortable. It's all just the learning experience to make you better at your craft . Typically I find that I have to do a multitude of styles during a game I have to weave and balance the the story to make sure that all the players have their time to shine while also moving the story along keeping the game Flow and Pace reasonable. No matter what play style you're trying to implement as a DM don't forget to always watch your players and their interactions between each other don't get too caught up in what you're trying to do that's very important to always pay attention to what they are trying to do.

Tip 3 : evolve
Okay great so you run your game and it went however it went maybe I'll standing maybe subpar but that doesn't matter the most important thing is that you learn and you grow one thing that I have is a email setup for my players to email me ideas were criticisms or things they really liked about the game just any feedback is great. One of the hardest things to do is to accept criticism evolving your game become what you wanted to be.

The diffrent types of DM's

Uplifting- These are DMS who are for the players
Typically looking to empower them.

Obstructive- Likes to put lots of challenges in front of the players to see how they overcome them.

Narrative- It's about getting through the story hitting key plot points.

Experiential- they are about finding that moment. It's not about getting from point A to point B it's about we have a moment here how can we explore that how can we make that real.

The great thing about this is that most people are a mix you can be one or all of them if you'd like it's just based on your preference, but these different DM Styles will appeal to different players. It's all about finding the right mix and balance that represents what you really want and what your players really want.
