Not only are rights not privileges, they are also not something government gives you.
Replace "government" with "our great leader". Makes this 10x better.
Privileges are the opposite of rights, and the only thing governments have to do with rights is that they are the primary violator of rights.
For me, any authority has to earn its respect by its actions. Not by degree, nor by wealth, nor by power. Only some of those who demnand authority would be capable of holding it if they were not given it by the system.
Agreed, I'm fine with voluntary hierarchies, especially based on merit.
