March ’18 DMania Steem App Analysis – BlockChain Business Intelligence
DMania is a fun app built upon the Steem BlockChain that allows you earn STEEM by posting or up voting on memes, funny pictures and videos.
DMania is the brain child of @zombee and the project has received funding from Steemit Inc by way of delegated power from @misterdelegation.
The aim of this analysis is to monitor the monthly activity from @DManiain terms of voting. It is also to analyse posts made via the DMania app and posts made to the DMania category on the STEEM Blockchain
This analysis will be carried out on a monthly basis so that trends can be established and growth measured. If you missed last months analysis you can read it here:

The Data
Using PowerBI, I have connected to the SteemSQL database (paid subscription service held and managed by @arcange). I also connected to Coinmarketcap.com to get actual SBD pricing for US$ conversions,
The Analysis
March @DMania Votes Analysis
In March 2018 DMania voted 614 times for 203 Authors. The average vote pay out was SBD $32 and the total approx. pay out given by DMania was SBD $19.53 We can also see from above that the average % voting weight used by @DMania was 40.03% and the average number of votes given per day was 18.8.
Although there were 3 days more in March over February, the number of votes given was down almost 3%
The vote value is also down considerably in March from SBD$134 to SBD$79. This is down to the price move in STEEM.
The visualisation below shows how this converts to US$. In total 19.53K SBD was paid out in votes from @dmania. Taking the closing rate from coinmarketcap on each day, this converts to US$50.72K
This is charted below with the US$ value of the votes given per day in the column with the line showing the daily high SBD price as per coinmarketcap.

#DMania Tag Post Analysis
In February 62K posts were made by 8,224 authors receiving 89K comments and 646K votes. The pay-out value of these posts was SBD $73.58K.
In March 9,952 posts were made by 2,176 authors receiving 26K comments and 225K votes. The pay-out value of these posts was SBD $42.46K.
There is a massive difference in the number of posts made to #Dmania in March
The average post pay out in Feb for #DMania posts was SBD $1.18 – In March this increased to SBD $4.47
We see above that DMania have given out approx. SBD $19.53K. That equates to 46% of the total rewards for this category/tag/app. This is down from 51%
These 9.9K posts received 26K comments from 4.8K authors. The comments received 9K votes and received rewards of SBD $596

Conclusion
DMania is an awesome project, receiving 9952 posts in the month of March and voting for 614 of them. This means that almost 1 in 16 posts made will be voted on by @DMania. @DMania voted on average 19.8 times a day in March.
Last month there was a discussion on the analysis on voting from @dmania as it seems that once out delegate you can get a vote, but there are restrictions and limitations. Please do correct me if I am wrong.
I would also be curious as to the level of drop in the number of posts made. It would require further analysis but a possibility could be less spam posts due to tighter controls.
46% of the pay out in this category comes from @DMania.

DMania is definitely a very good project. If only there's a better way to stop people from their copy-paste hobby then this project will be one of the bests.

Do they take cut of the rewards as well for people using there application?
I have come across these on occasion and I’ve noticed some people seem to use bidbots on “their” “meme” as well. Which sometimes I’ve question if even created by them in the first place.

If horizontal analysis is applied between the February and March @DMania votes analysis. Although March is 3 days more than February, there was a drop of 11.65% from 695 down to 614. Furthermore, the number of authors that @DMania also voted declined by 18.8%. Despite a decrease in the number of authors voted the number of votes casted also decreases. The average voting weight used by @dmania are similarly close but when it comes to average votes given per day, there seems a large discrepancy. What could be the reason why they both decrease? Is there a direct relationship between the number of authors and the votes casted by @DMania? Any factors why this happened?
If we compare the Feb. & March #DMania Tag Post Analysis there was an abrupt decline of authors as well as post using #DMania. Can I ask what are the factors that made this sudden decline of the number of posts and authors?

It looks like the popular authors received very much higher number of upvotes them 1 per 16 posts. So either they are very good dmania posters? Or they know how and when they get the dmania upvote?
Possibly those popular authors are also very nice to earn yourself curation rewards?
That could be two subjects to have a look at in next month's post?
