Your account will be monitored for progress. Refer to users like @equ1l1br1um for an idea of how to create quality originla gifs and meme variants that actually add value to the blockchain.
If people can find the same content on other websites, it is less of an incentive for people to come to Steem.

Fair enough. Although, mine had a unique contextual use relevant to Steem (related to bid bots and flags)
I've amended my process since the controversy around DMania. We don't need anymore bad attention from the rest of the community.
For instance, with @smartmeme, I will add either an icon or my signature green text to indicate that it was an original work.
Just screenshotting a Reddit post is not specific to Steem and doesn't add value for instance. Anybody can do that. Hope that helps clear up your concern.
