Join Me On A Relaxing Musical Roller Coaster Ride... [Check Out My First DLive Drum Video]

This is the FIRST time I've turned my drums on since May 15th, when I was obliviously recording an @openmic entry while my Mom was crushed by a large tree that fell on her through her windshield when she was driving. I literally had not moved a single thing on my set since her accident, except the dust and clothes that collected on it.

This is also my first DLive video. The upload process seems smooth. I just had to convert my video to mp4.

It's been a challenging time since, but life is starting to get back to normal. My Mom miraculously survived and will fully recover from very severe injuries that had her in the ICU for 3 weeks. After moves to several rehab centers, she's almost ready to go home.

I love this version of The Verve's "Bittersweet Symphony" by Imaginary Future. The song is so mellow and peaceful. The melody and lyrics are moving.

I decided to download this song today and figure it out on my set. I added wind chimes, a rain stick, and a bell as auxiliary percussion. I then chose the roller coaster affect to add to the overall experience.

This isn't perfect, but it does the trick for a quick turnaround before my neighbor got home. It was fun to zone out for an hour or two.

The lyrics to sing along are below (don't be shy). Enjoy the show.

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
You're a slave to money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the veins meet yeah,

No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
But I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

Well I never pray
But tonight I'm on my knees yeah
I need to hear some sounds that recognize the pain in me, yeah
I let the melody shine, let it cleanse my mind, I feel free now
But the airways are clean and there's nobody singing to me now

No change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no
I can't change
I can't change

'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this life
Try to make ends meet
Try to find some money then you die
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
You know the one that takes you to the places
where all the things meet yeah

You know I can change, I can change
I can change, I can change
But I'm here in my mold
I am here in my mold
And I'm a million different people
from one day to the next
I can't change my mold
No, no, no, no, no

I can't change my mold
no, no, no, no, no,
I can't change
Can't change my body,
no, no, no

I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
I'll take you down the only road I've ever been down
Been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Ever been down
Have you ever been down?
Have you've ever been down?

Awesome that you were able to connect with your drumset for the first time since you’re moms accident. There is nothing like being able to zone out and get lost in the music.

I love this song and have actually never heard this version before! I love how chill and mellow it is. I’ll have to go download it. :)

Aweome cover by the way! The roller coaster backdrop was really cool! Definitely added to the overall mood and feel of the video.

Hey Leigh! Just left a comment for @steemmatt about a recent post of mine where I mention you both. I hope that the both of you will consider participating! Talk soon… Thanks!

So cool @passion-ground!! Just checked it out and left a comment on the post. :)

Dude – a few things… First, I’m so sorry to learn of the horrific accident your Mom suffered. I can only imagine what all of you went through with more re-hab challenges to follow. I’m so glad she is going to make a full recovery. Prayers heading your way, man.

Second – I love this freaking drum cover and video production! You should splice in an intro and enter it into an Open-Mic contest!

Last but not least – DO NOT put away those drums, brother! I’ve just mentioned you in a post, and I’m hoping that you’ll consider participating in celebrating an Open-Mic milestone in the near future. I mention @coruscate too!

directly followed you for more :)

Yea..Man...I like it

Would you like to play drums on this mega-collab mashup project?

It slipped my mind to reply to your first comment, so thanks for the reminder. I can definitely play the drums for either of those songs (the first is more popular globally, and the second would be more fun and dynamic to play).

While I'd love to play on an acoustic set, my electronic is much more practical and free, versus using a studio in my city with recording/mixing help, which could be quite pricey.

However, the catch is that on my electronic set, I need to play along to an MP3 of the actual song, and what usually happens is that my recording simultaneously layers over the source MP3, and also the video I record. I'd have to brainstorm how to make that work, because the audio and video I record on my electronic kit will not be isolated from what I'm recording to. I ideally need to hear myself playing in my headset, but could try to play along to a track in my ears from another audio source and hope it sounds sharp. We can chat in discord soon.

AWESOME!

Dude - that is PERFECT! I'd be providing you with an mp3 or .wav file of the actual mashup! Are you using a DAW? If so, you should be able to monitor the source file while recording a separate drum track. When it's done to your liking, you'd then just send me back your raw drum track without the source file.

The Youtube video would be fine as you would normally create it - as I will use these only for video editing purposes - and not for audio mixing.

Yes, let's hookup on discord! I'd love for you to play both songs, as each of them is mashed together to create one new song. I've got a rhythm guitar track done, and the next step is drums and bass. Thanks, Matt! Talk soon...
