SynthMaster One - iPad Music Production
A lot of people don't consider the iPad to be a serious music production platform. Admittedly there is no Ableton Live yet, though Ableton are even dipping their toe in iOS waters with their Link technology for synchronization between apps and devices.
KV331 Audio have made some award winning soft synths over the years including their flagship SynthMaster One. Now they have ported this over to the iPad for a fraction of the price of the PC/Mac version.
SynthMaster One is a wavetable synthesizer with alot going on but a fairly straightforward user interface that fits on the iPad screen without a ton of sub menus.
The Oscillators, filters and effects sound great on this and they have managed to recreate the mac/pc version fairly faithfully.
Rather than describe the sound I did a little video running through a few of the presets included in the app. In the video I am using a wireless bluetooth keyboard to send midi notes to SynthMaster One.
I would definitely recommend this synth if you are making or considering starting making music on an iPad.
SynthMaster One works as an Audio Unit in iOS so can be opened right inside Apple's own free GarageBand app or any of the increasing number of DAWs and Audio Unit hosts on the iPad platform.
