I'd say you're in a good spot because the first people to attempt anything have a leg up. Plus whales in steem seem to support anything that will help the network grow and look good. Would also be great press for local papers etc. But as always content is king so work on making the best product possible.

Most of the stuff behind the scenes in Steem is happening on Discord. Look up all the relevant channels for what you're doing (fundraising, movies, etc) and you'll find people chatting and curators looking for premium content. It's the best way to network on Steem. Good luck.
