Cover version of a Javanese song "Kangen"
Hello, now it's another karaoke recording from me and little Kobold.
Singing our traditional song is one of the mediums I use to introduce the Javanese culture to my little princess.
I don't expect much that she would be able to save some Javanese vocabularies in her memory, because teaching her to be just a bilingual child is not an easy task already.
I'd be happy enough if she could speak the proper German and Bahasa Indonesia well enough before she goes to school.
But I hope that at least our Javanese culture is not gonna be too unfamiliar to her.
It's just so unfortunate that many precious old cultures from many different folks around the world are endangered either by extreme modernisation or by war.
So it would be great if my daughter could help preserving at least one of them.
Many young Javaneses living in big city couldn't even speak proper Javanese anymore.
(I mean the Javanese language for speaking with respected person, the formal one.
Javanese language has 5 big groups/levels, and to be more precise... this groups could be divided again into 13 levels. It's already a really great achievement for youngsters these days if they manage to master 2 levels. :-D
When I was a child I was able to master 3 levels cos some of my family members were traditional art performers.
Now I'm not really sure since there is practically no one to speak with LOL. Now I might be only confident to speak 2 levels of Javanese language: the low level one to speak with normal friends and the formal one.
But perhaps I still at least can understand the 3rd level too, since I still can follow the narration in a traditional oper or puppet shows for example. The complete levels of Javanese language might nowadays only be spoken by noble families and workers in the Yogyakarta and Surakarta palaces).

However this english version of the article would tend to elaborate the javanese language category according to it's state in the present situation.
One could say that every single Indonesians generally speak at least 2 languages, those who go to school would be able to speak at least 3 languages. So being poliglot for Indonesians is not really that special, at least for those who go to school and study properly.
If one happens to be an Indonesian of chinese origin, it's even possible that one would speak 4-5 languages cos one might be taught a chinese dialect and standard mandarin by one's parent too aside of the local folks language, bahasa Indonesia and English from the school.
I love learning languages, so I really hope that my baby has inherited my interest and talent in this subject. ^^
It would definitely more advantageous to be able to speak as many languages as possible.
The world is big and the border between countries would play less and less role in the future.
The conservatives may try to suppress it as they like but this development... the globalisation is unstoppable.
Like it or not, the exchange of human ressources and goods between nations would be even greater in the future.
People who still love to spoil their xenophobia might laugh now but definitely would cry later, because they're only trying to deceive them selves with the memory of glory from the past. ^^

Das mit den Sprachlevels ist echt interessant, aber es scheint auch sehr kompliziert zu sein! Ich hoffe little Kobold nimmt etwas von ihren Wurzeln mit in ihrem Leben!

Yeah... In Javanese, Hierarchien aand Respekt sind hoch geschätzt.
Es gibt Unterschiede, mit welcher Sprache, wir zu einem Person sprechen sollten.
Wenn wir noch weiter vereinfachen möchten, können wir heutzutage die javanesische Sprache in 3 Kategorien unterteilen, und zwar:
In dieser Situation möchte man nicht zu unhöflich sein, so dass man unversehenlich dem Gesprächpartner beleidigen könnte, aber auch nicht zu höflich bzw. formal, dass man zu großen Abstand mit der Person festlegt und dabei macht die Person sogar unglücklich.
Diese Unterteilung ist aber nur sehr grob. :)
Also... in meiner Heimat gibt es zu viel zu bedenken nur um mit unserem Mitmenschen zu unterhalten.
Das macht das Leben kompliziert hahahahaha. Die Art der Deutschen zu reden und miteinander umzugehen, werden von Javanesen als unciviliziert bzw. sehr unhöflich bewertet hahaha.
Ich persönlich finde es angenehm, da man einfach sagen kann was man denkt. :-D
Aber für manche Javanesen, wird es manchmal beleidigend wirken. ^_^

Die eigenen Wurzeln zu kennen ist für die Identitätsfindung wichtig. Daher finde ich es sehr förderlich, wenn die kleine Kobold bereits von klein auf auch deine Kultur kennen lernt.

Danke. Ja, ich hoffe sie hat auch Freude, verschiedene Kulturen kennenzulernen. Jede Kultur hat ihre eigene Schönheit. Es gibt keine bessere oder schlechtere Kultur, sie sind nur anders.
Es gibt Dinge, die ich an meiner Heimatskultur mag, aber es gibt auch Dinge, die ich hier in Deutschland angenehmer empfinde.
Die Art der Deutschen direkt und öffen seine Gedanken auszudrücken zum Beispiel gefällt mir besser als die "übertriebene" Höflichkeit der Javanese. Das macht das Leben viel einfacher. :-D
Denn ich muss nicht immer analysieren, was mein Gesprächspartner in seinem Satz eigentlich versteckt hätte.

Auch wenn ich kein Wort verstehe, finde ich euch zwei super süss beim Singen =) Da kann die kleine ja nur musikalisch werden! Ich finde es super wichtig, dass man Kindern die Musik bereits im frühem Alter nahebringt, denn Musik kann in verschiedenen Lebenslagen so viel verändern!

Die Mädchen in meinem Land bekommt Piercing und Gold-Ohrringe direkt nach der Geburt. :)
Ich habe seit Gebürt bis Teenagers schon viele Ohrringe verloren bzw. kaputt gemacht beim Spielen, da ich zu "wild" wie ein Junge war. Irgendwann kaufte meine Mama mir keine Ohrringe mehr, nur Geldverschwendung hahahahaha.
Ich warte immer drauf, dass die Kleine irgendwann mitsingt :D

I liked your cover very much, the languages, this topic catches my attention, I study languages but these languages are something different from the ones I am currently studying, I am taught that if French, English, Portuguese and others, these languages have shown now are somewhat different, I would also like to learn Hebrew since this is one of the oldest, so it is still inculcating your baby, languages is of great importance when you decide to travel to other countries and do not pass work trying to communicate with those of other languages is great,

Yes, the world is vast and there would be more and more people travelling either for fun, for work and to be with their partner. In digital era, border is only about a piece of paper.
People who are too conservative and not flexible would have big problem in the future.
In this situation, the ability to speak in many different language, at least the most spoken language in the world, would be a big advantage.

Lagunya enak didengar meskipun saya tidak mengerti artinya karena bapak saya yg orang asli Madiun, Jawa Timur jarang mengajarkan bahasa Jawa kepada anak-anaknya 🙂
Nah itu dia seperti yang saya tulis diatas juga. Sayang sekali bahwa anak-anak jaman sekarang yang tinggal di kota, bahasa daerahnya sendiri banyak yang udah nggak bisa. Boro-boro bahasa Jawa komplit dari ngoko sampe krama inggil. Yang ngoko saja banyak yang udah ngga bisa.
Ironisnya, anak2 kita sendiri yang mengabaikan budayanya...tapi nanti giliran ada negara tetangga yang menampilkannya langsung pada ngamuk-ngamuk.
Lucu kan... saya sih nggak mau ikutan ngamuk, malah bersyukur setidaknya dengan begitu budaya itu nggak lantas punah sama sekali.
