HOW BLOCKCHAIN TECHNOLOGY CAN HELP FIGHT CORRUPTION IN AFRICA

Corruption is an epidemic global disorder. Corruption hampers growth and progress. Corruption in government and public service is nonnative, but for the purpose of this discussion, I took Africa as a case study.

In some countries of the world, corruption is like an investment. If you're not corrupt, you cannot be trusted, you'll be seen as one who is abnormal. In a corrupt government and public sector, you cannot breakthrough the system without being corrupt, that's how bad it has been in some cases.

And now, it's not just about the fact that the leaders are corrupt, the systems are equally corrupt. We now have corrupt systems and institutions, and that's why a lot of things are not working. The Law enforcement agencies, the Public service sector, the educational system, the health system, the military, the Judiciary etc, have been battered by corruption. Corruption has weakened our morals and consciousness in governance and public service.

How can blockchain technology help fight corruption? How can blockchain technology help create a better payroll system in public service and eliminate the issue of ghost workers? Can the application of blockchain technology in government help reduce corruption rate?

My honest reply to your question@joshuaetim is 50percent "yes" and 50percent "no".

Why " Yes", blockchain has incorporated a lot of crypto-currencies, to help better the life of individuals, especially africans. With a blockchain acccount, buying of crypto even with the smallest pennny is easy. With the advent of blockchain one can invest, without been afraid of his or her future.
Blockchain has been accepted by world bank as a safe means of investing, buying and selling without the involvement of a third party, example paypal.

Why, "no". Before blockchain can gain fully entry into every aspect of the world. It first begins with the individuals. In Africa, introducing blockchain technology to someone, they will think you are a Fraudster. Even, if they have heard about it. They wont believe or accept, that blockchain is real and not some form of ponci scheme. Till the people and government view blockchain as a blessing. Then blockchain is bound to encounter challenges.

You've made a wonderful point @misterbauchi, awareness is critical. And trying to create awareness, it will be needful to educate and not just inform. Personally, it still amazes of how people still think of blockchain to be ponzi. I've encountered this misconception from people while trying to introduce them to steemit.
However, we have keep on teaching and informing people about blockchain and how blockchain works. Thank you for stopping by

You are much welcomed @joshuaetim. Glad to be part of the great community.

Lol, corruption is like an investment, jeez such thought.
I just love the way you said it. Beautiful series with the blockchain technology.
