Basically what I'm thinking is that they are controling the weather and doing whatever they want. For example, if you remember last year, the spring came very early(at least here in croatia) and it was very warm, so the plants and everything from vagetables to flowers was starting to grow and bloom. But then, all of a sudden in the spring time, it snows. Just for a couple of days or maybe one day, but just enough for everything to get destroyed and lost forever. Tousands of people lost everything. Apples, pears, salads, figs or whatever they were growing, and by that I mean that was the only source of income for them.
So what happened next? Not only most of the people lost everything (at least for that year), but the price of those certain products went up. So what do they do? They step in with their gmo fruits and vagetables and sell it for low price so that even the people who didn't lose everything can't make money.
